The backcare luxury as the name suggests is a firm tension bed. The firmness is provided by the Backcare Luxury’s 1400 pocket springs that are used in the mattress. The pocket springs are placed into independent pockets within the mattress and offer firmer support to the user. Sleepeezee use 3 rows of side stitching on the walls of the Backcare Luxury mattress to help the mattress keep its shape and keep the pocket springs in place.

 The Sleepeezee Backcare luxury has generous layers of wool and silk fillings to give a comfortable sleeping surface and a Belgium damask cover is used to give this mattress a contemporary finish.

 The Backcare luxury is available as either a mattress or as part of a divan set. The base of the divan is constructed from quality timber and is screwed and glued together to give a rigid finish The divan is also available with a combination of storage drawers and sits on twin castors to aid in positioning the bed in the room.

Adjustable beds can make a huge difference in your sleep patterns.

Traditionally only used by older people or those with health problems, adjustable beds are now becoming more popular as lifestyles change and younger people look to their beds as living areas instead of just sleep zones.

Sleepeezee have 2 adjustable bed ranges I’ve had the chance to try out; The Pocket Adjustable and The Cool Comfort Adjustable.While I haven’t tried sleeping on either bed I did take them both for a quick test drive in our warehouse yesterday.

Test drive is possibly the best way to describe using an adjustable bed, something I can relate to being a gadget enthusiast. Both of the beds I tested ship with the corded remote control allowing you to make adjustments to the head and foot of the bed without wondering where you left the remote (of course it this also could also make for some hilarity if someone else gets hold of cordless remote while you’re sleeping, which is why that’s the one I’d buy!).

Bed goes up, bed goes down. Because I wasn’t using the Sleepeezee Pocket adjustable for sleeping I wanted to know how well it would perform as (a) a comfortable sofa to read my book and (b) a viewing station for a wall-mounted TV. In both cases, the bed performs brilliantly. Once you get used to the idea that this bed can mould itself to your body contours, you can’t help but try out every position until you find the right one.

The mechanism on both beds is smooth and mostly noiseless, so I’m pretty sure you could adjust your bed during the night without waking your partner.

The Pocket Temptation from Sleepeezee is a superb mid range bed that offers premium quality at an affordable price. This is another of Sleepeezees pocketspring and memory foam fusion beds that gives a comfort and support level thats perfect for its target market.

The benefits of fusing memory foam and pocket springs is not only do you get the individual support from the 1400 pocket springs with each individual spring giving you the correct support for each area of your body but also the elastic qualities of memory foam which is a heat sensitive material that slowly moulds to your body shape giving you even greater support where you need it most.

The Pocket Temptation mattress has Knitted Coolmax panel finish which works in conjunction with the memory foam to give a comfortable sleeping surface. The mattress also has 2 rows of side stitching to help keep all the pocket springs in place and prolong the lifespan of the mattress.

The base of the Pocket Temptation comes with a standard selection of drawers including 2 and 4 drawer options and continental options if required. The base stands on beech feet and is upholstered in a light blue finish giving a fresh clean look.

A 4FT 6 double is priced at around £550 which is very competitive giving that the bed has 1400 pocket springs and a layer of memory foam. This would be a perfect choice for people wanting the most support out of a bed at an affordable price, a must for people who enjoy a restful nights sleep.

Thats right, it’s the ultimate in backcare support. The support comes in the form of 2000 individual pocket springs placed in independent cotton pockets throughout the mattress , each working hard to give you the most support for your body, where you need it most!

The backcare element comes from the fact that the pocket springs are made of firmer steel than usual meaning the give of each spring is less and a firmer support is guaranteed.

The divan base offers a slightly different twist as well with a very modern set of beech legs that elevate the bed several inches of the ground, pretty handy if you have anything flat that needs storing!. Storage options are as usual, standard with all Sleepeezee beds and the Backcare Ultimate is no exception. Standard and Continental drawers are available at extra cost.

The mattress as previously mentioned packs 2000 pocket springs which is perfect support for any sleep conscious individual and with very generous layers of wool and cashmere on top of the spring system the overall comfort level is very high. 4 Rows of side stitching keep everything in place and a quilted finish gives a perfect sleeping surface for that ortho feel.

Average retail price on a 4FT 6 Double is around £480 which is not bad considering whats included in the price. A definite must for all those that like a firmer feel bed.

The Casablanca is another Pocketspring and Memory foam fusion created by Sleepeezee. The spring unit consists of 1200 pocket springs with a 47mm layer of memory foam placed on top of the springs, the whole mattress is then encapsulated in a layer of foam and a tufted finish gives the Casablanca a medium comfort feel.

As mentioned in previous articles memory foam and pocket springs is fast becoming the most popular choice of mattress filling. The memory foam gives a great feeling of support as it contours to your individual body shape while the pocket springs give that traditional feel of comfort that only a spring system can offer. The tufted finish in my opinion gives a comfortable surface layer to lie on.

The only question i would ask here is, is 1200 pocket springs enough to get the full benefits of the pocketspring / memory foam fusion!! ideally if you can afford it The cool comfort 2000 would be my choice as the comfort level is very much improved with the extra springs and the extra cost would be well worth it in the long run.

Sleepeezee Casablanca Divan Bed

The Emperor 3000 has only just come onto the market and is part of Sleepeezee’s Latest 2009 range. The bed offers a very impressive 3000 pocket springs. That’s right. Count them if you want to!

I didn’t even think there was enough room to fit 3000 pocket springs into a mattress but Sleepeezee have managed it and with it a quite impressive looking bed.

The first thing I noticed about this bed was the improved base. Not only is it available in 3 colours (Anthracite, oatmeal and classic) but the finish of the drawers, castors and linking bars all give the impression that no exspense has been spared and quality is the order of the day.

The bed itself does sit a little high off the ground and thoughts of going to bed needing to wear a parachute did cross my mind, but to be honest as soon as I hopped on the mattress and felt the comfort and support the height issue really didn’t bother me.

With so many springs supporting you, you really get the sense the mattress is customising itself to every small contour of your body shape and with thick layers of cotton, pure new lambswool and cashmere sitting on top on the spring system the comfort levels really make sleep pretty easy to find. Sleepeezee have also added 4 rows of side stitching to the mattress to make sure all those 1000’s of springs stay where they should!

The one downside to this bed is probably the price. If you’re looking to buy the 5FT Kingsize it will set you back around £900. This is a big investment for a bed but with the build quality of this product I can imagine at least 15 years worth of use before needing to replace it. I suppose when you look at it like that, 15 years of comfortable sleep for £900 is more than a good investment.

Anyway, this is beside the point! My job was to test out the New Generation Touch Divan bed by Sleepeezee, which fuses memory foam and pocketsprings in the same mattress. This I thought was going to be a week of very unpleasant sleep but all in all I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

The overall look of the bed first got my attention as it looks a lot more expensive than the actual price tag. This new range comes as standard with faux suede base, which really sets this base apart from more traditional patterned bases.

The mattress was a good thickness and had a soft outer cover which felt like linen had already been added.

The mattress itself felt softer than I imagined when lying on it, and the overall comfort level was a definite thumbs up. The memory foam does take a while to adjust to the shape of your body, but the addition of the pocketsprings really offered the support I prefer in a mattress.

Overall I was pleased with the comfort of the mattress. I had 7 very restful nights sleep and was amazed I’d slept on memory foam without wanting my old bed back!

Starting at around £500 for a double, this type of bed offers a good entry level into memory foam and is certainly the first rung of the ladder for people like myself who understand the benefits of memory foam but not the idea of sleeping on it.

Fusing pocketspring with memory foam is a definite winner in my book. I guess I’m starting to like Marmite.

Which is why I was so happy when I was told that my demo Sleepeezee Baroness had arrived. Take a look at this and you’ll see what I mean.

Sleepeezee Baroness Divan Bed

Now, my bedroom doesn’t look as fancy as the one in the photo above, but for 4 glorious nights this bed did grace my bedroom. Here are some features to get you started:

• The Sleepeezee Baroness has 2000 pocket springs in the 5FT mattress. This means that your sleeping partner can host a bouncing contest on her side of the bed and you won’t notice a thing. My wife is pregnant and sleeps very restlessly. But even she commented that the Baroness was more comfortable than any other bed we’ve tried in the past few months.
• Usually a mattress takes a few nights to settle and become comfortable, but this wasn’t the case with the Baroness. It features silk and wool upholstery and settled immediately.
• Good looks at an affordable price. It almost seemed a shame to put linen on our demo bed. If I owned the Sleepeezee Baroness I would use some of the money I saved on the bed into research for transparent linen. It costs less than £600 for the Double set, so there would be a fair chunk of change to add to the research fund!
• Plenty of storage. You can choose between 2 drawers, 4 drawers or 4 Conti drawers with the complete Sleepeezee bed range (no 4-drawer option in the 3FT). Our demo had the 4-drawer Conti option which is very useful if you have bedside tables and don’t want to move them each time you need to open a drawer.
• Non-turn mattress. Being naturally lazy, the idea of a non-turn mattress appeals to me.

Price range: The Sleepeezee Baroness divan set is available in a 3FT, 4FT6, 5FT, 6FT and 6FT Zip & Link, and Bedstar currently have them on special for between £460 and £949, depending on your choice of options.

My overall verdict: If you like the idea of a medium tension pocketsprung bed and you expect high quality without having to mortgage your house, the Baroness is perfect for the job.

The only thing I didn’t like about my latest Sleepeezee bed was that I had to give it back.

I’ve been nagging Sleepeezee to supply us with a test Casablanca since the first time I saw it, and on Monday, it arrived. A brand new, 5FT Kingsize Sleepeezee Casablanca, in all its glory.

Sleepeezee Casablanca Bed

On first impression, the Casablanca is striking. The black base and mattress sides let you know that there is something special about this bed before you even get a chance to lie on it.

Once unwrapped, I noticed a few quality features Sleepeezee add to their products that other manufacturers seem to forget.

Chrome guides: Sleepeezee opted not to include standard black plastic castors on this range of beds. Instead they have used a more durable chrome guide. The contemporary look of the Casablanca is carried through onto the trim of the bed, which is also covered in Chrome.

Foam encapsulated mattress: Foam encapsulation is a relatively new idea in the world of beds and Sleepeezee have used it on the Casblanca mattress. In effect, foam encapsulation protects the spring unit and adds support on the edge of the mattress.

1200 pocket springs in the 5FT. I love pocket sprung mattresses. You get the benefit of all-over comfort and if you sleep with a partner, you don’t have to feel them toss and turn. 1200 pocket springs is a very respectable amount for a medium tension mattress and makes the Casablanca very comfortable to lie on.

47mm memory foam layer. The Sleepeezee Casablanca has a layer of memory foam on top of the spring unit. I’ll be honest, I don’t like memory foam because it makes me feel hot, so this is the one feature of this mattress that I could do without. That said, it does make the bed feel very comfortable to lie on.

Woollen tufts. As with all quality mattresses, the Casablanca has woollen tufts to support the frame. Poorly tufted mattresses can be uncomfortable to lie on, but that isn’t the case on this mattress. The tufts are well finished and unnoticeable.

14-inch platform top. Our demo unit didn’t have any storage drawers, so I can’t comment on the storage quality. However, there are 2 drawer, 4 drawer and 4 drawer-conti storage options available on the double and kingsize beds, with 2 drawer options on the single beds.

Is the Sleepeezee Casablanca Bed right for you?

If you’re looking for a bed with a contemporary design and a medium tension, this bed will grace any bedroom. Bear in mind that it also has a memory foam layer though, as this may be a factor in your decision.

On first impressions the Backcare Extreme looks great.

As with all Sleepeezee products, the quality of build and attention to detail shone through.

To be honest, the Backcare Extreme was a bit too firm for my liking. I can see how people who have back injuries and feel the need to sleep on a firm bed would like this though. The level of support is fantastic.

The demo bed we were given has 4 drawers, with 2 Drawer and Conti Drawer options also available.

Retail prices on the 5FT Kingsize range from around £500 to over £650 depending on where you buy. The Backcare Extreme is available in 3FT, 4FT 6, 5FT and 6FT sizes and can be purchased either as a mattress or as a divan set. A 6FT Zip & link option is also available.

Overall impression

Sleepeezee Mattresses have come up with a wonderful orthopaedic design in the Backcare Extreme. If you’re shopping for a firm bed or mattress, this should do the trick.
